Help & FAQ
Answers to common questions about searching, your case diary, your account, and billing. If you cannot find what you need here, email support@salp.co.
1. Getting started
1.1 How do I create an account? Choose Sign Up and complete the registration form. Once your account is active you can sign in from the Log In page.
1.2 What can I do with SALP? SALP is a case law research service for the South Asian region. You can search judgments, look up citations, search statutes and their provisions, and keep a case diary with your own notes. See Features for an overview and Data Coverage for what is included in the database.
1.3 Do I need to install anything? No. SALP runs in a modern web browser. You only need a working internet connection.
2. Searching
2.1 Judgment search. Use Judgment Search to find reported judgments. Enter your terms in the search form and refine the results using the filters shown alongside them. Selecting a result opens the full text of the case.
2.2 Citation search. If you already have a citation, use Citation Search to go straight to the reported case rather than searching by keyword.
2.3 Statute search. Use Statute Search to find an Act or other instrument, then open an individual provision from within it.
2.4 Why do I get no results? Try fewer or broader terms, check the spelling of party names, and confirm that the jurisdiction and date range you have filtered on are correct. Remember that coverage is not exhaustive — see our Disclaimer.
2.5 Should I rely on what I find? Always verify authorities, dates, and citations against an authoritative source before relying on them. SALP is a research tool and does not provide legal advice.
3. Case diary and notes
3.1 What is the case diary? Case Diary lets you keep track of the matters you are working on, so you can return to them without re-running a search.
3.2 Can I add my own notes? Yes. You can attach notes to the cases you are working with, and they remain private to your account.
3.3 Are my notes backed up? Your notes are stored with your account, but you should keep your own copies of anything important. See section 7 of our Terms of Service.
4. Downloads and printing
4.1 Can I download a judgment? Yes. Where a download option is offered on a case, you can save a copy for your own use.
4.2 What am I allowed to do with it? Downloads are for your own research and professional use. Bulk downloading, scraping, redistributing, or reselling content from the Service is not permitted — see section 6 of our Terms of Service.
4.3 The download does not start. Check that your browser is not blocking pop-ups or downloads for this site, then try again.
5. Your account and security
5.1 How do I change my password? Open Change Password from the account menu in the top right, and enter your current and new password.
5.2 I have forgotten my password. Use the Forgot Password link on the login page. A reset link will be sent to the email address on your account.
5.3 How do I turn on two-factor authentication? Two-factor authentication is available from your account settings. Once a phone number is added and verified, you can receive a verification code as a second step when you sign in. We strongly recommend enabling it.
5.4 How do I update my details? Your account details are available under Account.
5.5 I think someone else has used my account. Change your password immediately and email support@salp.co. Accounts are personal and may not be shared or transferred.
6. Subscription and billing
6.1 What plans are available? Current plans and prices are listed on the Packages page.
6.2 Where do I find my invoice? Your invoice and billing details are available under Billing, and you can download a copy of an invoice from there.
6.3 Where can I see my payment history? Under History in your account.
6.4 How do I get a refund? Refunds are governed by our Return & Refund Policy. To make a request, email support@salp.co from the address on your account.
6.5 How is access delivered? SALP is a digital service — there is nothing to ship. See our Shipping & Service Delivery Policy.
7. Troubleshooting
7.1 I keep getting signed out. Check that your browser accepts cookies for this site. SALP uses strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in — see our Cookie Policy.
7.2 A page will not load or looks wrong. Refresh the page, then try clearing your browser cache. If the problem continues, tell us which page and which browser you were using.
7.3 I paid but cannot access a feature. Sign out and back in, and confirm your subscription status under Billing. If it still does not appear, email support with your account email.
