This Cookie Policy explains how South Asian Law Portal ("SALP", "we", "us") uses cookies and similar local storage technologies when you use the SALP platform and related services (the "Service"). It expands on section 9 of our Privacy Policy and should be read together with it.
2. How we use cookies
SALP uses strictly necessary cookies and similar local storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the Service from working. Non-essential analytics are used consistent with applicable law.
We do not use cookies to sell your personal information, and we do not use them to build advertising profiles about you.
3. Categories of cookies we use
3.1 Strictly necessary cookies. These are required for the Service to function. They authenticate your session and keep you signed in, remember the second factor on a device where you have completed two-factor authentication, and protect forms against cross-site request forgery. The Service cannot be provided without them, so they cannot be switched off from within the Service.
3.2 Preference cookies. These remember choices you make — such as your preferred jurisdictions, language or locale, timezone, and notification settings — so you do not have to set them again on each visit.
3.3 Analytics cookies. Where used, these help us understand which features are used and where problems occur, so we can fix and improve the Service. They are used consistent with applicable law, and where the law requires consent, they are set only after you have given it.
4. Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by the third-party providers that support the Service — for example our payment processor and, if you use it, optional third-party sign-in. Those providers set cookies under their own privacy and cookie policies, which we do not control. The providers SALP works with are listed in section 4 of our Privacy Policy.
5. Managing and blocking cookies
5.1 Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies through their settings, and let you clear local storage for a specific site. The relevant settings are usually found under "Privacy", "Cookies", or "Site data".
5.2 Blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies will sign you out and may stop parts of the Service from working correctly.
5.3 Signing out of your account clears the session cookie for that device.
6. How long cookies last
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies — such as those that keep you signed in or remember a trusted device for two-factor authentication — remain until they expire or until you delete them. We keep cookie lifetimes no longer than is reasonably needed for the purpose described above.
7. Changes to this Policy
SALP may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. If material changes are made you will be notified, and the "Last updated" date above will be updated.
