This Disclaimer applies to your use of the SALP — South Asian Law Portal platform, mobile applications, and related services (the "Service"). It restates and expands on sections 3, 4 and 11 of our Terms of Service, which continue to apply in full.
1. Not legal advice
SALP is a legal research and productivity tool. It provides access to case law, statutes, citations, document tools, and AI-assisted features that help legal professionals work more efficiently.
SALP does not provide legal advice and is not a substitute for the judgement of a qualified lawyer. Nothing available through the Service — including search results, summaries, headnotes, annotations, briefs, or AI responses — should be relied upon as legal advice or as a statement of the law applicable to your particular facts.
2. No lawyer–client relationship
Using the Service does not create a lawyer–client relationship between you and SALP. Communications with SALP, including support correspondence, are not privileged and are not covered by legal professional privilege.
3. Accuracy and currency of legal content
3.1 SALP works to keep its database accurate and current, but legal material changes constantly. Judgments may be appealed, reversed, distinguished, or overruled; statutes may be amended or repealed; and reported text may contain transcription or reporting errors originating from the source.
3.2 Coverage is not exhaustive. The absence of an authority from the Service does not mean it does not exist, and its presence does not mean it remains good law.
3.3 You must independently verify legal authorities, dates, and citations against an authoritative source before relying on them.
4. AI-generated output
Some features generate summaries, briefs, chat responses, and analysis using artificial intelligence and third-party AI providers. AI output can be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect ("hallucinated"), and may misstate the law. It may cite authorities that do not exist or that do not say what the output claims. You must review, verify, and edit AI-generated content before using or relying on it, and you are responsible for all decisions you make based on AI features.
5. Your professional responsibility
You remain solely responsible for any professional decisions, filings, submissions, or advice you give to your own clients, and for compliance with the rules of professional conduct and any duty of candour owed to a court or tribunal in your jurisdiction. Nothing in the Service reduces or displaces those obligations.
6. Third-party content and links
The Service may reference third-party legal sources and link to external websites. SALP is not responsible for third-party services or the accuracy of third-party content, and a reference or link is not an endorsement.
7. Jurisdictional scope
SALP is offered primarily to users in Pakistan and the wider South Asian region, and its content is organised around those jurisdictions. Material relating to one jurisdiction may have no application in another. It is your responsibility to ensure the authority you rely on is applicable in the jurisdiction in which you are acting.
8. No warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and the accuracy, completeness, or currency of legal content or AI output. The limitation of liability in section 12 of our Terms of Service applies to your use of the Service.
