Last updated: 18 July 2026

SALP — South Asian Law Portal is a digital subscription service, so there are no physical goods to return. This policy explains when subscription fees are refundable and how to request a refund. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.

1. Subscriptions and billing

Paid access is sold as a recurring subscription billed monthly or annually, in advance, through our payment processor, PayFast. Your plan and price are shown at checkout.

2. Money-back guarantee for new subscribers

If you are a first-time paying subscriber, you may request a full refund within 7 days of your initial purchase if the Service does not meet your needs. This applies once per customer and does not apply to renewals.

3. Renewals

3.1 Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You can cancel at any time before the renewal date to avoid the next charge.
3.2 Charges for a renewal that has already occurred are generally non-refundable. As a courtesy, if you contact us within 3 days of an unexpected renewal and have not materially used the Service in the new period, we may, at our discretion, issue a refund.

4. Monthly plans

Monthly fees are charged for the full month. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund the current month, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

5. Annual plans

Outside the money-back window in section 2, annual plans are non-refundable for the remainder of the term. Where required by law, or at our discretion, we may issue a pro-rated refund for the unused, full months remaining.

6. Items that are not refundable

(a) usage-based charges or allowances that have already been consumed (for example, AI usage/tokens used during the period);
(b) one-time add-ons or services that have already been delivered;
(c) accounts terminated for breach of our Terms & Conditions;
(d) renewals after the courtesy window in section 3, except where required by law.

7. How to cancel

You can cancel your subscription at any time from Settings → Billing in your account, or by emailing support@salp.co. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

8. How to request a refund

Email support@salp.co from the address on your account with your account email and the reason for the request. We aim to respond within 2–3 business days.

9. How refunds are issued

Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method via PayFast. Depending on your bank or card provider, it may take 5–10 business days for the amount to appear on your statement.

10. Chargebacks

If you believe you were charged in error, please contact us first — we can usually resolve it faster than a bank dispute. Filing a chargeback without contacting us may result in suspension of your account pending resolution.

11. Price changes

We may change subscription prices. Any change applies to future billing periods, and we will give you reasonable advance notice before a renewal at a new price.

12. Your statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law.
